It’s almost time to wind down from our glorious
and very hot summer and head toward a cool, crisp, apple pie autumn! (Don’t panic yet…we still have Indian summer
to look forward to!)
For those who love summer it was a good one, especially compared to the rainy one we had last
year! Many friends were at the beach, kayaking, canoeing, picnicking, boating or playing outdoors.
Many
also had the urge to dance, because it is not a seasonal activity, which makes us very happy!
We hope that
continues to be the case for a while longer and that you come join us this month for more fun and foot tapping!

AUGUST OVERVIEW
We had a good time, as always, with “Escapades Singles” this month at The New York
Athletic Club on Travers Island. It was a gorgeous day and everyone had the use of the deck overlooking the swimming
pool. There was also a buffet included in the ticket price, so everyone sunned themselves, ate, drank and danced the
night away! What could be better than this?
We had the pleasure of entertaining at The Hawthorne Inn twice
this month, and the crowd did not fail us! We so look forwards to being there, as we know we can depend on so many of
you to come out to support us and have lots of fun doing it! Many of our former classmates from high school have been
joining us and we certainly hope it is obvious how much we are enjoying this! Plus, we have so many friends who faithfully
come to see us every time, and that is such a joy! So happy to see Kathy & Ken (what a surprise!) as well as our
‘regulars’ who mean the world to us! Ed & Barb had their daughters Karen & Kathy with them so we finally
got to meet them in person! Some of Nick’s family came, per usual! We had our lovely ‘Danbury Crew”
who came all the way up to see us, and two couples who we have become very close to, from the Old Lyme and Madison area. SO…they
were coming in from all over the state to keep us company!
We had a trial run at a fairly new venue in Bridgeport.
The Blue Martini Lounge at the newly renovated Holiday Inn had been trying out music. We will have to wait and see if
we will be going back. There is no dance floor but we had some very nice people join us for the evening.
City
Hall Café in Waterbury was on our agenda this month and although there is no dance area there either, we had people
up doing their thing, which made the owner happy as well as we! Thanks to Lois & Mike for coming by as we hadn’t
seen them in awhile!
All private functions went well, as well as Nan’s assisted living and Seniors
Day Cares. She is also doing some Senior Centers now too and loving every minute of it. This month she sang at
a new one and it went extremely well. All of the residents want her to come back as soon as possible, and she is very
pleased! It is a great thing for her to do as she is a definite people person and enjoys singing the music of yesteryear!
We took a well-deserved week off and felt like a couple of fish out of water, but we should probably do this every
so often to rest our voices. It was a nice week off! We almost went out to Karaoke one night…but stopped
ourselves!
We look forward to seeing you this month……..but then, we always do!
