"It was the 3rd of June, another sleepy, dusty Delta
day" Do you remember what song that line is from? "Ode to Billy Joe"!
Yes, it is June already and
we're happy to be vertical! May was a tough, but fulfilling month! We saw so many wonderful people we have met over the
years, which is the main reason this is all worthwhile!
Have a wonderful June, while you spoon, in the afternoon!
Then, under the moon while Nick and Nancy croon!!
Later, Alligators!
Nick & Nancy, "AFTER
ALL"
MAY OVERVIEW
Nancy did her second gig as a soloist, at The Atria in Waterford. It is a beautiful
assisted living residence, and is more like a fancy hotel! Everyone was wonderful and very responsive, and she will be going
back later in the year. Thanks to Shirl for getting Nan the gig, and it was great to finally meet Shirl's Mom, Shirley!
Nick & Nan went in as a duo to Elim Park Assisted Living in Cheshire and AGAIN, the response was wonderful.
It felt so GOOD to make everyone so happy! Joan's Aunt Julia was there and in good spirits and so were Joan & Jim...thanks
to them for the gig! (Plus...it was Joan's birthday!) Nan hopes to get lot's more of these jobs(it's hard to call
them that as they are so much more than that!).
We played at Leon's in New Haven for the first time since it's
opened under that name. It was a tough night, as the band is set up way over in a corner, and down one level so, we were a
bit removed from a lot of the people and YOU KNOW how we like to be near the people!
We were at The Saybrook Point
Inn in Old Saybrook for a Wedding. Unfortunately, it rained that day so we had to do the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception
in three different rooms! But...that was neither here nor there because the bride and groom(Peter and Mary Beth)were both
GLOWING! The rain certainly didn't stop them from being happy and enjoying their special day! Coincidentally, just as
we were finished packing the equipment, our friends Jim & Joan drove up to us in the parking lot. They had recently returned
from Florida and had stopped there to have dinner, so we got to join them...what great timing THAT was! A few moments later
and we would have been on the road already! It was an extremely enjoyable time! Wish we could do that much more often! Congrats
again to Pete and MB!
We were at The Saltwater Grille in Stamford for an Escapades Single's Dance. Always good
to see everyone....and we were booked for another one this month too! Hello to Dan & Ginger..they make SUCH a nice couple!
And...what dancers! Would also like to thank Norm for inviting Nancy to dance...what a treat!
We had our first
full weekend at The Inn at Ethan Allen this year and of course...need I even say it....the rowdy tables were there to make
our nights! Nan always makes sure to do all of their requests because it's so much fun to watch them dance! Especially
"Man, I feel like a Woman"! That Jim and Denny....!!!!
We had a full weekend at Junipers and guess what.....one
of the rowdy tables followed us there! YAY! That's what we really like...when we see people at different places! Thanks
guys!
We celebrated Winnie's 60th birthday at The Hawthorne Inn and had a dancing crowd for sure, plus a beautiful
buffet meal. Nan was thrilled that they had sushi! (Food is a good thing!)
We actually had three weddings this
month....this one being the wedding of the year(maybe the century, according to some!)...Janet & Jesse! It was at La Luna
in Branford, and the day went perfectly! The bride looked radiant..and her dress was stunning! The groom cut a dashing figure
as well Nancy gets all weepy at weddings...always comes equipped with tissues! Congrats J&J! They are actually on their
honeymoon in Bermuda as we speak! We'll see you on your return!
That evening, we had an engagement party(thought
it was a wedding..wrong!) at Race Brook Country Club, with The Grecian Nights Greek band...we ALWAYS have so much fun with
them! If we could do more during the year with them, we would be thrilled! The following day we did our third wedding of the
month with them again, at The Clarion Hotel in Bristol.....and the crowd was WILD! Nan was dancing up a storm and playing
the tambourine like a nut,(per Nick, not always on the beat!) and her feet were so painful at end of night she was hobbling
around like Walter Brennan! She always needs a crowbar to pry her shoes off~! The pain of it all! Both the future Groom(boy
could he ever dance...ohpa!) & Bride on Friday night and the Bride & Groom on Saturday night were wonderfully happy
and it does our hearts good to see young couples just starting out. Good luck to both couples and we wish them long successful
marriages!
The last weekend was, per usual, at The Water's Edge and it turned out to be a very special one
indeed! Firstly, we want to thank so many people for coming out on Friday night, including Patty & Jack(Nan's nickname
has become Snookie...given to her by Jack!), Karin & Paul, Mary & Roland and Larry & Lorraine. They are lovely
people and we really appreciated them being there!
Saturday, we were so glad to have Joan & Jim and Shirley
& Tom with us as they always give us such great moral support and we love them dearly. The best surprise that evening,
was that Nan & Nick's good friend, Keith Martindale from high school was there with his beautiful wife Shelley and
lovely Daughter Emily! They live in Seattle and Nan hadn't seen Keith since 1971...ahhhhh..back in the day...memories!
We didn't want them to leave! It was a very emotional evening, and one that we'll never forget! Keith was Nan's
best male cohort in school and she has missed him a great deal over the years...but now they are reunited and she is so happy
that HE is happy and has such a great life with Shelley, Emily and his son Craig! (per Nancy, Nick & Keith were the two
greatest guys in school...and she is lucky to have them both in her life!). Keith has a very successful career with Holland
America Cruise Lines and thinks we should think about entertaining on the ship....what do all of you think??
Yet
another great thing this month.....Nick's Son, Nick Jr. came to visit from San Francisco and is doing very well! He looks
so happy and it was good to have him home for a few days....Proud Papa Nick is so very proud of his eldest child's accomplishments
out there on the west coast!
We will be playing venues where you can come see us this month! Not as many private
functions! So....hope to see you soon and have a joyful June! (oh no...more rhymes!).
PS. We'd like to wish
Shirl a very happy birthday on June 18th! We'll sing to you when we see you!
Warmest Regards, and thank you
for your continued support!
