Here we are in July and we haven’t had much of what you would call summer weather.  But…that certainly hasn’t stopped anyone from coming out to dance!  Now THAT’S what we like to hear!

We, as in every other month for the last 18 years, would like to thank everyone for coming out to eat, drink, and join us on the dance floor.  We wouldn’t have lasted this long without all of you!

Have a spectacular month and a sparkling Independence Day!

JUNE OVERVIEW

Our weekend at Junipers was fun per usual.  We seem to have built up a small but excellent following, including Mike, Lois and Gil!  We always say Quality verses quantity!  We hope to see more people at this venue as it has a nice sized dance floor and a nice ambience.

Carlito’s is always hopping with our regulars and believe us when we say that we notice when you’re not there!  Good food too!

Table’s #9 & 13 were as rambunctious as ever at The Inn at Ethan Allen!  There was a table #3 as well.  Actually…table #13 expanded quite a bit and practically took up the entire lounge…it was indeed (in the words of one of the crew) reminiscent of the last supper, with all due respect, and in the nicest possible way!

We had the pleasure of playing a baby shower for Paula’s family at Sorrento’s on the Green in Rocky Hill.  We used to play at Sorrento’s when they were on Franklin Avenue in Hartford, for many years.  They had a beautiful day, weather-wise, for the function and many people were there to give praise to the newest little one in the family.

Our weekend at the Water’s Edge was busier than in the past few weeks, according to the management.  There were four weddings on Saturday alone and the overflow always comes into the lounge, which may be good or bad if you know what we mean!  Thanks to Rita, Guy and family for surprising us, ‘cause we just love that!  At special thanks from Nan to adopted Sister’s Joan and Shirley (HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIRL!!!!!! Please forgive Nan!) and adopted Brother’s in Law Jim and Tom for the lovely plant (sago palm bonsai)…which she had been wanting forever!  She is taking very good care of it and talks to it every day! Good to see our friends Bing, Claire, Terry and Fred too!  Nice of Brother’s Adam and Dave plus one to come both nights…and to “Samantha” and friend for being there as well…we always look forward to seeing you!

We did The Rotary Club of Danbury’s passing of the gavel dinner (how many years have we done this…?) and thoroughly enjoyed sitting with Jim & Jackie and Frank & Candy(thanks from Nan for the cards)…..hope to see Jim & Jackie and crew next month at Junipers.  This was by the far the best one yet as the dance floor was actually full at some points and some people stayed to the end, which is uncommon!  We want to wish Jim another big happy birthday and a very happy anniversary to Mr. & Mrs. Espinoza …62 years!!!!

We Actually played for their 60th anniversary.  Mrs. E. said that if we want to play for their 65th we’ll have to pay for it….

Saturday we were at Marinelli’s Supper Club in Burlington and there were 20 people who came to see us, many from seeing us at The Hawthorne Inn!  You know who you are (Paul & Karen, Bob & Ginger, Eli & Mary, etc!) and we love you for it!)  Thank you so very, very much!!  We really hope to see you all soooooooon!  (The ballroom dancing was wonderful)  There was also a 40th anniversary party who joined in the festivities.  We will be back at this venue in the next couple of months.

Lastly we sat in for another band who fell ill at an Escapades Singles”/Cotton Club Singles dance at a wonderful restaurant in Norwalk.  Wonderful food…. great ambience, and a great staff!  We played outdoors and prayed for sunshine, even though Nan can’t take the heat but…. better to be warm than have the equipment ruined!  Good turnout…80 people.  Lot’s of dancing and camaraderie!  There were a few very, very light sun showers and luckily there was a big patio umbrella available to shield the equipment.   The rain certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits!  Everyone kept dancing and stayed ‘til closing.  We may be invited to go back to entertain at that restaurant.  We will keep you posted!

Have a good July and don’t forget to come out to join us soon!
